Charleston, WV (Wowk) – The invoices were passed, rejected and postponed during the recent legislative period. The senior of West Virginia only started the meeting in the afternoon, but still had a lot of work for them.

The first legislation adopted in the Senate of West Virginia did not lead to much debate, but a legislation called “Creation of Fair Access to Financial Services” led to many arguments about whether the customer’s protection is harmful.

“You realize that you are not yet welcome,” said (*11*) Senator Eric Tarr from Putnam County. “If you are planning your investment here, you will be sued.”

“I don’t think it will keep the business from it,” said (*11*) Senator Scott Fuller from Wayne County. “If I say Mr. Smith that he cannot be part of this bank, I have a good reason. It cannot be one of the reasons why this legislation is.”

The legislation was passed with a vote of 25 to 9, but disagreement continued in the next legislation in connection with the transparency of the hospital in relation to health costs.

The senators discussed whether it would ultimately boost or reduce payments for patients.

“We cannot reduce the health costs for our voters unless we know which hospitals are charged,” said (*11*) senator Laura Wakim Chapman from the Ohio district. “I support this and hope that it will pass so that our voters can have transparency in what they pay in the most difficult times of their lives.”

“The easier one is to pick up the phone and call your insurance. Let it tell them what was negotiated for your plan and hospital so that you can make the best comparison yourself,” said Senator Tom Takubo, a (*11*) who represents Kanawha County.

This draft law also passed, but the vote was even closer at 22 to 12.

Four other laws were adopted before the senators earn laws to promote agritourism.

“In Virginia it is a 4 -billion dollar industry. In West Virginia it is nowhere nearby,” said (*11*) Senator Patricia Rucker from Berkeley County. “The support of this legislation promotes more business and investments. It protects our agricultural operations and helps our farmers to survive.”

The bill was rejected by a vote of 13 to 21.

Overall, the Senators of West Virginia passed 11 draft laws on Monday.
