Washington -Vice President JD Vance said on Wednesday the government was looking for ways to get a handful of additional US Senate Democrats to vote for the Stopgap Act of Republicans to reopen the government.

In the meantime, however, the officials of the White House are planning to relieve federal workers in masses, a dramatic and disturbing step that has traditionally not been undertaken in previous shutdowns.

“We have to take extraordinary measures to ensure that the government works – again not perfectly because it will not work perfectly in the middle of a shutdown – but is as good as possible,” said Vance.

All Democrats who have taken care of the effects of layoffs on federal programs or the life of people should vote to advance a seven-week draft law on Stopgap editions That has stalled in the Senate. Senate and House Democrats say that they will not support a GOP path to reopen the government, unless the Republicans agree on the increasing costs of health care.

As a rule, some federal employees are classified as excluded during a switch -off, which means that they work throughout the entire financing loss. Others are vacation. All receive repayment as soon as the Congress finances the government under a law of 2019.

Widescale detections were not part of the 2013 department or the 2018-2019 closure, which took place during the first Trump administration.

Vance During the briefing of the White House, the Democrat blamed when the Trump government increased a similar rhetoric, including the government’s websites, on which the “radical left in congress” are to blame.

“Three moderate Democrats joined 52 Republicans last night. We still need five to reopen the government, and this is exactly where we will concentrate how to get these five other democrats,” said Vance.

The press spokesman for the White House, Karoline Leavitt, said during the same briefing that layoffs for federal employees “were imminent”, but it declined to say how much percent of employees would let go or share other details.

Leavitt stated that the budget director of the White House, Russian, would publish these details “soon”, and said that she did not want to be ahead of this office.

“Unfortunately, these (violent violations) will occur very soon,” said Leavitt.

Effects on crucial programs

The administration expects several programs to be affected by switching off, including novel participants of the special supplemental Nutrition Program for women, infants and children or WIC.

Leavitt said that the financing remnant means: “1.3 million energetic troops will now work without payment; critical food aid for women with low income, infants and children will now expire, no novel mothers or children may join this critical program, since the democrats are determined to close the government. Air traffic without payment and TSA agent are working, which is very likely to work and now over 150,000 law enforcement officers from the federal government.

“These are not just numbers and statistics, these are real Americans who have families at home. And today I saw some Democrats that they will still accept their salary checks because they have three children at home and have to feed mouths. Well, these federal workers too.”

Members of the congress, the president and the federal judge must receive their salary in the constitution according to various provisions. While some legislators have publicly asked for their salary checks to be held back to the reopening of the government, this is not a legal option.

However, you could donate your charitable purposes to what you can do, regardless of whether the government will be closed.

“Mafia threat”

The threat to the dismissal of federal workers and mass has already triggered a lawsuit before a district court in Northern California, which argued that the executive has no legal authority to dismiss federal workers during a state closure.

There was roughly 2.2 million federal workers all over the country from July 1st Large parts of them live in California, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Texas and Virginia. About 30% of the workforce consist of veterans.

The Democratic Senator of Maryland, Chris van Hollen, told States Newsroom on Wednesday morning that his office did not hear from federal workers in his state, and even if it were the case, it is “illegal”.

“The president has no additional authority to release people,” said van Hollen. “This is just a mafia style threat and blackmail.”

He did not detail what plans the Democrats have to prevent these potential ignitions, however, illegally and pointed out the lawsuit submitted in California in California, which represented more than 1 million federal employees. These unions are the American Federation of Government employees and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal employees.

Mark Warner, Democratic Senator of Virginia, made similar comments and said: “The president has no improved powers during the manufacture, so that his ability to fire randomly and arbitrarily is not improved.”

The Republican Senator of North Dakota, Kevin Cramer, said that the Democrats “did not have the high ground in this situation” and would have to adopt the GOP -Stoppgap law so that the government can be reopened.

But Cramer said he was concerned that the White House household office will go too far in implementing a closure, including mass layoffs, and could possibly be challenges for the Republican legislator.

“I am a little worried that in the long run you could be politically counterproductive because other things will again require 60 votes,” said Cramer.

Legislation requires the support of at least 60 senators to promote the final farewell, a rule that typically leads to compromises and two parties in this chamber in this chamber.

Senator Tim Kaine, Democrat of Virginia, said he hoped that the legislator could complete a deal to prevent the Trump government from releasing more federal workers. He said the congress expressly created protection for federal workers, for example in 2019, when the legislature included a provision for the return of wages to ongoing federal workers.

“In the past, we had to fight for the repayment after being switched off,” he said. “Now everyone is guaranteed to be back so that they have it as a baking stop that they can count (on).”

Hakeem Jeffries, Chairman of the House Mainfulness, said during a press conference on Wednesday on Wednesday, Donald Trump’s government, “the mass shots of federal workers” had been committed since Trump’s took office on January 20.

“The Trump government killed jobs,” said the New York Democrat. “This is an professional administration. The creation of jobs is reduced, but you know what’s going on? Costs. They promised to reduce costs on the first day. The costs do not augment.

Here are department circuit plans

The Trump administration has constantly published its plans for the number of federal departments in each department during production and which employees are relieved.

The plans listed below also describe which programs the Trump management of the view is that it can be legally continued during a financing return without violating the federal law.

They do not explain how many federal employees could be released, and the White House refused to give additional details about these plans or whether they are published publicly after the briefing.

Banner attack

The Trump administration has followed a novel approach to be informed of people who visit their websites about the shutdown and add banners who blame the feet of the Democrats.

On the website of the Ministry of Agriculture it says: “(D) This government website will not be updated during the financing return. President Trump has clarified that he keeps the government open and support those who feed the American people.”

The website of the Ministry for Housing and Urban Development includes a pop-up and a banner on the homepage with the inscription: “The radicals in the congress left left-left government. Hud will use available resources to help the Americans in need.”

The Ministry of Defense had a better message: “The recent funds for the Ministry of War expired on September 30, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. The military personnel will continue in a normal office status without payment.

The message published by the Ministry of Health and Human Services was similar.

“Mission-critical activities of HHS will continue during the government led by the Democrat. Please use this site as a resource because the Trump administration reopens the government for the American people.”

The news could go against violation A long -time driver In the Federal Expense Act that “(s) is used part of an agency of the executive in this or another law to support or defeat laws before the congress, except in the presentation of the congress itself.”
