UP IN THE MORNING

Tim Walz’s self-destruction continues during the press call and John Fetterman’s reaction is priceless

If you want to know why he wasn’t very energetic in the campaign, including interviews, this is why. He is a political lightweight who has no place on the national stage.

Joe Biden’s dilly-dallying on ordering federal troops for disaster relief is incompetent, malicious, or both

Why was the tap for military aid to North Carolina and other struggling states turned off?

Kittens on the Barbie

And for the people of Springfield, their fresh residents, even though they are now under control momentary statusprobably won’t go anywhere… ever.

WHAT’S UPCOMING?

Today on Capitol Hill…

Same, same. Not much happens until after the election, but while we’re at it: What in the world is going on in Texas that there’s even a question about? Ted Cruz’s Senate race? (Or is this just a specific push survey/request?) You’d better get through now, you hear?

And everyone, listen up: Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) I want you to know that Senator JD Vance (R-OH) is a fraud. (It’s a secure bet that none of her supporters will vote for the Republican nomination anyway, but I’m sure there’s an undecided out there somewhere who’s hanging on to Nancy’s words…)

What’s going on in the White House?

President Joe Biden’s air tour of areas affected by Hurricane Helene continues Thursday with sightseeing flights to affected areas in/around Perry, Florida, and Valdosta, Georgia.

The home stretch

Vice President Kamala Harris is traveling to Ripon, Wisconsin, on Thursday to speak at a tardy afternoon campaign rally before heading to Detroit, Michigan.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump will campaign in Saginaw, Michigan.

Full court press…

Daniel Penny is due in court on Thursday for a preliminary hearing in the case in which he is charged with manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter for putting Jordan Neely in a chokehold on a New York subway last May.

Mayor Eric Adams was in court Wednesday for a pretrial conference. No trial date has been set, but an investigative plan has been set for the case.

In California, District Judge John Mendez issued a preliminary injunction against Gavin Newsom’s ridiculous parody ban law.

As expected, Judge Chutkan ruled Wednesday that a (half-heartedly) redacted version of Jack Smith’s immunity petition could be unsealed, giving the breathless anti-Trump press tons of shiny objects to play with.

Meanwhile, would-be Trump assassin No. 2 Ryan Routh was brought to trial on November 18, 2024 — but don’t expect it to stay that way.

Morning rumination

Being the weather junkie I am and fairly familiar with the Helene-ravaged areas of eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina, I’ve been following the stories of heartbreak and survival quite closely on X/Twitter and retweeted many of them. because I believe these are stories that need to be told. There are countless. I find it challenging at times to control my emotions because the extent of the destruction and the toll it is taking on these communities is overwhelming. One particularly heartbreaking story concerns a family who lost three of their members after the roof on which they were taking shelter collapsed: a married couple and their seven-year-old grandson Micah. Her daughter, Micah’s mother, was also on the roof but managed to survive. She and her sister shared their story with a local news outlet. I purposely avoided watching it because I knew it would break my heart. But I finally did it and I’m content. Turn your faces toward God, friends. He has that.
