You can’t say that Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) doesn’t know how to get to the point – or how to hold the conventional media accountable when they don’t. On Sunday on CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” Senator Cotton criticized the conventional media for not answering Kamala Harris’s direct, unprepared questions since she was crowned the Democratic presidential nominee on a vote of no. There’s a good reason for that, he said – she can not.
Senator Tom Cotton said Sunday that Americans would not want Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the nation after learning more about her, and called for greater press scrutiny of the presumptive Democratic nominee who has been catapulted to the top of the ballot box in recent weeks.
“When the American people take a closer look at her and her radical positions, I think they will realize that they do not want her to continue the legacy of Biden and Harris,” Cotton said on Sunday on the “Face the Nation” program.
The Arkansas Republican criticized Harris for spending two weeks as a presumptive nominee without giving the press an opportunity for natural moments or questions. He said when she faces the media, she will have to answer to her positions on issues such as energy and gun policy.

As Cotton notes, what will matter most to the American people is Harris’ identity, “that she is a radical liberal from San Francisco”:

He continued, drawing attention to the media’s failure to “hold Harris to the same standard” as previous nominees (in the CBS News article linked above):
“Kamala Harris has only been the candidate for two weeks and has not yet answered a single question,” he said, adding that it is “the media’s duty” to judge Harris by the same standards as candidates nominated in the conventional primary process.
“Donald Trump in 2016, Barack Obama in 2008 – they all had to endure more than a year of testing in town hall meetings, VFWs and debates before they got the nomination,” Cotton told moderator Ed O’Keefe. “Kamala Harris was awarded the nomination.”
To be clear, this honeymoon between Harris and the mainstream media can’t last forever. After all, there will be some sort of presidential debate, and we all know how well Kamala Harris does in debates – or any situation where she has to speak without a script or teleprompter.

The establishment media will try to undiscovered this, but we all remember that when Donald Trump was president, he would go to the press line and answer questions, impromptu and off the cuff, sometimes during an event, sometimes just on his way to Marine One to fly somewhere. Trump seemed to be drawn to the press lines, and although he was notoriously unwilling to take any nonsense from the media people, and although there was no sympathy on either side, he answered questions directly, succinctly, and to the point.
Kamala Harris has never done that. And she never will, if her advisers have anything to say about it. She is simply incapable of answering a direct question without either lapses or delivering another incomprehensible jumble of words. And in the end, that is what the American people will see.
That doesn’t mean the election will be a cakewalk for Trump and Vance. Remember, about a third of the population will vote Democrat if the Democratic candidate is in a coma. Just look at the results of the 2020 election. But Kamala facing Donald Trump in a debate could well be a turning point. After all, Kamala Harris is simply not suited to the debate format – and her radical left record doesn’t facilitate either. We’ve seen that before.
Remember what I said: Joe Biden has been kept away from these situations because he is senile. Kamala Harris is being kept away from them because she is incompetent. But they can’t keep this up forever.
