The Trump campaign is not standing idly by as the former president’s second assassination attempt is underway. As RedState reported, an assassin named Ryan Wesley Routh was shot and arrested on Sunday after he was seen sitting down in a tree line. Routh’s past showed that he had been radicalized by the ongoing accusations that Trump was a “threat to democracy.”

As my colleague Teri Cristopher reported, Kamala Harris has repeatedly used the phrase to describe the former president, portraying him as a dictator-in-waiting ready to end the republic. According to the Trump campaign, this kind of rhetoric has consequences, and they tried to prove it on Monday by releasing a long list of statements from Democratic politicians and media personalities.

There are some eye-catchers there, including a comment from Harris asking, “Do any of us have to get out alive?” and Joe Biden saying, “It’s time to hit Trump in the face.” The number of other Democrats who have made similar statements is almost impossible to keep track of. For example, Rep. Jason Crow (CO) said, “Trump is an extreme danger to our democracy,” and Rep. Stacey Plaskett (VI) blurted out, “He needs to be shot” during an appearance on MSNBC in 2023.

I will not repeat the whole list, it can can be found here with appropriate links, because I think the larger point is the vital one here. When you constantly tell people that a man is not only bad for the country, but that he resembles Adolf Hitler and will throw “LGBTQ” people in prison, it is an invitation to the less mentally stable among us to act. Think about it. If Trump Really is the return of one of the most murderous figures in world history, then Why not Would someone try to eliminate him before the election?

Of course, we all know that Trump is not. Someone can personally dislike him or oppose his policies without resorting to such absurd hyperbole. However, Democrats are so convinced that they are among the righteous few that they will say anything at this point. Does that mean that each of the people quoted above specifically called for Trump to be assassinated? No, but it does mean that they are intentionally fueling something very threatening. This is the second attempt on Trump’s life, not the first. If ignorance was an excuse before, it is no longer one now.

In closing, I would like to say this. At some political level, it becomes an vital task to get the other side to play by their own rules. Democrats have spent decades claiming that every statement by a Republican is an incitement to violence. They even tried to claim that Trump stands up and says “fight” after he shot was inflammatory. Given that, it is perfectly legitimate to point it out when Democrats employ inflammatory language that leads to one of them trying to kill Donald Trump.
