Donald Trump’s 2024 re-election campaign keeps opening up the map and moving further into what the Biden campaign likely sees as protected territory. That’s an ancient strategy in any kind of conflict: Make your opponent react to you rather than react to him; always keep the initiative and take the fight to him on his soil whenever possible. The Biden campaign’s home territory in question includes the states of Virginia and Minnesota, where the Trump people are Opening of new campaign offices.
The Trump campaign is expands his ground game in Minnesota and Virginia, while putting President Biden’s campaign behind in traditionally Democratic states, according to a new internal campaign memo.
The memo, obtained exclusively by CBS News on Friday, shows that the campaign is currently in the process of finalizing leases for eight “Trump Force 47” offices in Minnesota and 11 campaign offices in Virginia.
“Trump Force 47” is the nickname of the joint effort between the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee’s volunteer voter recruitment program.
In addition to the offices, the campaign has hired new staff to lead its field campaigns in Virginia and Minnesota and is building teams.
The latest polls have Trump and Biden Tie in Minnesota and essentially on par (within the error tolerance) in VirginiaThis must have caused beads of sweat to appear on the foreheads of many members of the Biden campaign team.

Remember that the last time Virginia gave its Electoral College votes to a Republican was in 2004, when the State voted for George W. BushThe last time Minnesota did this was in Richard Nixon’s Landslide re-election victory in 1972It is conceivable that Donald Trump will win Virginia, but Minnesota, frankly, has little chance.
This does not mean that the Trump campaign is not try with all my might.
By adding Minnesota and Virginia to the map, the campaign believes it can “add at least 12 additional paths to 270,” according to the memo, written by James Blair, the Trump campaign’s political director.
Trump has his eye on winning Minnesota and Virginia after several internal campaign polls reportedly showed that Biden’s sinking popularity in those states – coupled with Trump’s historic gains among black and Hispanic voters – could mean an opportunity for the former president.
While this could be an opportunity, more immediately it means that the Biden team is on the defensive in these states.
The problem the Biden campaign faces (and I’ve said this before) is that there’s just nowhere for them to open the map. They did Georgia in 2020, but Trump holds a narrow but consistent lead there now. The former president also holds narrow leads in Pennsylvania and myself Wisconsin – if he wins both states in November, his victory is virtually assured.
One of my favorite quotes from Carl von Clausewitz Is:
Be bold and clever in your plans, determined and persistent in their execution, and determined to reach a glorious end.
You’d think the Trump camp had studied von Clausewitz. They’re bold and clever in putting the Biden camp on the defensive, and they’re undoubtedly holding out, despite all the legal wrangling and nonstop demonization by the establishment media. And the glorious ending?
If current trends continue, we will see this in November.
