Trump is traveling to Iowa in the coming days, Vance to Ohio and Minnesota

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is expected to travel to Iowa on Jan. 27 to deliver a speech on the economy and energy, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles told reporters Wednesday.

The president is expected to begin weekly trips ahead of the midterm elections, where the GOP is seeking improvement wafer-thin majority to win the U.S. House of Representatives and maintain his lead in the U.S. Senate.

The expected trips will come even as Trump tries to advance his campaign on affordability policies and as the cost of living is a focus of the midterm elections. On Tuesday, Stocks plummeted after Trump doubled his threats to acquire Greenland and promised tariffs on eight European countries that opposed his plans.

During a trip with Trump to Davos, Switzerland World Economic ForumWiles told the traveling press that officials in Trump’s Cabinet would also boost their domestic travel.

The time and location of the Iowa event have yet to be announced. Trump last visited Hawkeye State in July 2025, marking the start of a year-long celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary.

Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to be in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Wednesday for a roundtable with local leaders and community members, according to his office.

The vice president will also deliver remarks on “Restoring Law and Order in Minnesota.”

Thousands of Minnesotans protested the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement there after a federal agent fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Good on Jan. 7.

According to his office, Vance will also visit an industrial shipping facility in Toledo, Ohio, on Thursday.

According to his office, Vance will deliver remarks discussing the administration’s “commitment to lower prices, higher paychecks and creating more good-paying jobs in Ohio and throughout the Midwest.”
