Call someone the ambulance. CBS’ “60 Minutes” is very enraged with Donald Trump.
(*60*) before Tuesday’s vice presidential debate on CBS, the network announced that Trump had changed his mind about whether he should do an interview for a “60 Minutes” election special scheduled to air Oct. 7. This obviously angered the show’s producers, who went to X to vent their spleen.
Here is the one tweet:
A note on programming: 60 Minutes will air a primetime election special on the show’s Monday edition on October 7 at 8 p.m. For more than half a century, 60 Minutes has invited Democrats and Republicans to appear on our show as Americans…

If you don’t want to click through to X, you can find the entire statement from CBS and “60 Minutes” here:
A programming note: 60 Minutes is scheduled to air a primetime election special on the show’s Monday edition on October 7 at 8 p.m. For more than half a century, 60 Minutes has invited Democrats and Republicans to appear on our show when Americans go to the polls.
This year, both the Harris and Trump campaigns agreed to sit down with 60 Minutes. Vice President Harris will speak with correspondent Bill Whitaker. After initially accepting 60 Minutes’ request for an interview with Scott Pelley, former President Trump’s campaign has decided not to participate. Pelley will speak this Monday evening.
Our election special will broadcast the Harris interview as planned on Monday. Our original invitation to former President Donald Trump for an interview on 60 Minutes.
Your statement is full of hypocrisy, isn’t it? They do these interviews for Youof voters because they are so high-profile, civic-minded and impartial; They would never stage these interviews as some kind of in-kind donation to Kamala Harris’ campaign. They would treat candidates equally, all in the name of the public interest.
LOL.
Of course, Trump rejected them, and who can blame him? The last time he appeared on “60 Minutes” in 2020, the humorless, stone-faced Lesley Stahl got into a heated argument with Trump over the Hunter Biden laptop story:
This exchange between Trump and Lesley Stahl is crazy. She repeatedly insists that the Biden laptops “cannot be verified,” which is why reporters shouldn’t talk about them.
Trump asks her why it couldn’t be verified.
Her answer: “Because it can’t be verified.” pic.twitter.com/cf9hcSGnrm

Bonchie from RedState put it this way at the time:
“Then there’s such idiocy where Stahl insists that Hunter Biden’s emails shouldn’t be reported on because they ‘can’t be verified.'” Leaving aside the fact that the media is all over Reporting possible unconfirmed rumors, if they are anti-Trump rumors, Stahl’s apology is also nonsensical since the emails have been verified in numerous ways.
Lesley Stahl and the people at CBS News are so blatantly misleading that the Trump team insisted on making a recording of this interview themselves in 2020, knowing full well that the final product broadcast by the network would be deliberately edited to make Trump look bad allow. Which, of course, CBS did, proving that impartiality and integrity are long-lost qualities in the world of corporate media.
Here we were in 2020. Four years later, things have gotten even worse, just as the media’s hatred of anything Trump-related has only gotten worse. Proof positive of this is the atrocious way the presidential and vice presidential debates were handled, with bipartisan “moderators” standing up for Democrats and “fact checking” Republicans. The bar was set low and the media somehow went even lower.
Well, Trump has had enough.
When asked why he chose not to do a “60 Minutes” interview this time, the former president summed it up: He will do it as soon as they apologize for being awkward about Hunter Biden’s “laptop.” from hell”.
REGARD:
REPORTER: “Explain your reasons” for not doing an interview with 60 Minutes.
PRESIDENT TRUMP: “First I would like an apology – you said the laptop from hell came from Russia. And I said it wasn’t from Russia, it was from Hunter.” pic.twitter.com/BSFRuCSwwS

Trump is doing exactly the right thing here, and other Republicans should take note and follow suit. CBS News, “60 Minutes,” Lesley Stahl and Scott Pelley, who would conduct the recent interview, have proven time and time again that they cannot be trusted to fairly report on Trump or any candidate who happens to have a conservative thought on their mind . They never will, but they should absolutely apologize to Trump for being so wrong about Hunter’s laptop.
In fact, perhaps Trump’s handling of “60 Minutes” should become the recent standard for all Republicans. Just don’t talk to them until they can prove that they are truthful brokers. Make them worthy of your time. Republican candidates owe the media absolutely nothing; There are many other effective ways to communicate with voters. Stop the madness of talking to people who are actively seeking your downfall.
In summary: Well done, Donald Trump.
