Reports of the Secret Service’s response to the death threat that ultimately cost the life of the volunteer fire chief and nearly killed former President Donald Trump are in a tender position.
Conspiracy theories are abounding. Given the number of missed opportunities to prevent 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from nearly killing Trump and plunging the country into civil war, it is becoming increasingly arduous to accept that only ignorance or incompetence was at play.
The idea that the Secret Service might have deliberately played matador defense against a mentally ill person is becoming more and more plausible.
Various reports indicate that Trump’s security team was understaffed, failed to secure the roof where the crooks were hiding, and had several opportunities to intervene and stop the attack.
They didn’t.

Now, CNN reports that the would-be assassin was on the Secret Service’s radar three hours before the shooting after attempting to enter a secured area using a rangefinder, a device hunters operate to line up shots at long distances.
Somehow they lost sight of him – even though he had “raised suspicion” – and had no idea that, according to current law enforcement theory, he was going to get his rifle.
After that opportunity was lost, Crooks was again in the Secret Service’s sights when agents arrested him 40 minutes before the shooting spread a picture of him as if he were “crawling on the ground”.
Additionally, a Secret Service sniper team code-named “Hawkeye” had spotted Crooks on the roof just minutes before the attack. They had plenty of time and multiple opportunities to stop the guy. And they didn’t.
Why? Can this simply be dismissed as incompetence?
Maybe, but the conspiracy theorist in me remembered that Tucker Carlson raised the alarm several times over the past year that evil actors at the deep state level might try to kill Trump.
Last summer, in an interview that nearly broke the internet, Carlson engaged in a debate with Trump in which he pointed out the apparent escalation of the Deep State conspiracy’s plans, ranging from impeachment to charges.
It was the way he extrapolated things beyond what was known at the time that caused a stir.
“I’ve been looking at the evolution since 2015, when you got serious about politics,” Carlson told Trump.
“And then they won. It started with protests against you. Massive protests, organized protests by the left, and then it went to impeachment twice,” he continued. “And now to charges.”
“I mean, the next level is violence… Are you afraid they’ll try to kill you?” Carlson asked. “Why wouldn’t they try to kill you? Honestly?”
Trump evaded the question a little, but noted that the organized resistance against him consisted of “wild animals.”

Just months after his interview with Trump, Carlson again offered a grim analysis of what the 2024 presidential election cycle might bring, pointing out that all left-wing forces in government are actively trying to prevent a victory for the Republican candidate, “just like when they killed Kennedy.”
“You have Trump … all the liberal polls show him leading the race and beating Joe Biden in the swing states,” Carlson said in a podcast interview. with edited news by the time.
“So they can’t let him win, but if they don’t let him win, then it’s just abundantly clear that this whole democracy thing was a fraud and that it’s not a democracy; it’s an oligarchy run by the richest people,” he continued.
Carlson further stated that “all the centers of power in the country” are working together to stop Trump.
“And at this point, when the veil is lifted, we can’t pretend anymore,” he said. “When they killed Kennedy – which they did – they could pretend everything was fine.”
“But after this election, you can’t pretend anymore, everything is OK. Everyone will know,” Carlson continued. “And it’s a little bit like when you get kidnapped, you get thrown into the back seat of a car and suddenly the kidnapper turns around, takes off his mask and you see his face. And that’s not good because if you see his face, he’s going to have to kill you because you know who he is.”

Carlson has long believed that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was involved in the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy. He has mentioned this idea on numerous occasions, including beyond the above section.
Is there a parallel between what just happened to Trump and the assassination of JFK? Did the Secret Service allow the first shots to be fired?
That’s exactly the question I asked Tucker.
“Do you think they allowed the gunman to shoot first before taking him out?” I asked. “And do you see any parallels between this incident and the CIA’s apparent takeout of Kennedy?”
“I honestly don’t know,” he replied. “It’s scary and horrible.”
The fact that we are left with only two options here is indeed frightening. Either the Secret Service is terminally incompetent, or it has chosen to look the other way, even if only for a moment.
We currently live in a country where the latter option seems most likely.
