Tulsi Gabbard is accused of being “compromised” and being a “cult member” ahead of her confirmation hearing

With Matt Gaetz out of the picture, the left and the Republican establishment have trained their guns on Tulsi Gabbard as their next target. President-elect Donald Trump has named Gabbard his Director of National Intelligence, and while one is justified in wondering whether there is anything in her background or experience that qualifies her to lead America’s intelligence community , where the opposition is going, unprincipled and unconstitutional.

For a time, the Biden-Harris administration placed Gabbard on a “Calm skyAlthough Quiet Skies is not a terrorism watchlist per se, Americans have been subject to increased scrutiny and scrutiny due to their “travel abroad and connections abroad.”

Gabbard was an officer in the US Army Reserve at the time. We don’t know what “briefly” means, and all of this raises the question of how the federal government knew about her “foreign trips and foreign connections.” This attack is reminiscent of the way the Obama administration placed Carter Page under illegal FISA surveillance, leaked the fact that the surveillance existed, and then used the illegal spying as evidence that Page was a foreign agent. It is also a political “heckler’s veto.” It gives the bureaucracy the power to eliminate potential threats by placing them on a kind of “watch list” controlled by bureaucrats and using that action as a disqualification for office.

The second line of attack against Gabbard is that she is “compromised.”

Here is Illinois Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth spreading the slander that Gabbard is some kind of foreign agent.

DUCKWORTH: Well, I think she’s compromised. I think by going to Syria and basically supporting this brutal dictator there – I mean, Russian-controlled media called her a Russian asset. So I think we have a really large concern about whether or not she’s a compromised person.

And frankly, the U.S. Intelligence Committee – I’m sorry – the U.S. intelligence community has found that it has troubling relationships with America’s enemies. That’s why I’m worried that she didn’t pass the background check.

BASH: So you’re a Democrat. You are currently in the minority in the US Senate. If she can find the Republican votes that are likely to be confirmed, you would probably be concerned about having her in this office.

DUCKWORTH: Very much so. She has no intelligence background.

When she was in Iraq, she was an E4 medical records clerk, which is below the rank of sergeant. Her second deployment was actually to Kuwait, the Kuwaiti naval base, where she spent just three months training the Kuwaiti military. So – and I don’t know about any intelligence work that she did.

So she is extremely unqualified in terms of the intelligence community. Additionally, she may be, and could be, and has been at risk – there are questions about whether or not she is now a Russian asset.

BASH: Do you think she could be a Russian asset?

DUCKWORTH: I think she’s someone who fully supports Putin. And I worry that she doesn’t have America’s interests at heart.

This is the same claim on Anderson Cooper 360. The critical part starts at 0:38.

Unfortunately, Nikki Haley couldn’t resist the effort of getting a few licks. Go to 1:31 for the relevant segment.

While I agree that Gabbard appears to have adopted Howard Zinn’s view that America’s foreign policy is the cause of all evil in the world, that doesn’t make it compromised. In my opinion, she’s a destitute choice for any national security position, but that’s another story.

Finally, there is the blatantly unconstitutional religious test applied to Gabbard. It is a Hindu sect and that is being used as a line of attack.

The same attack was carried out against Orthodox believers, regardless of their religion. Remember, Catholic candidates are regularly criticized for their religion when they stand to the right of the adulterous, blasphemous Joe Biden.

The constitutional ban on religious tests for public office applies regardless of your views on religion.

Tulsi Gabbard’s confirmation hearing should focus on whether she has the intellect and character to effectively lead the U.S. intelligence community. Insults about their compromise or their religion are taboo. The fact that the Biden-Harris administration placed her on a “watch list” is more of an indictment of the process that did it than any reflection on her. Yes, she has some tough questions to answer about her vocal defense of Iran, her meeting with Syria’s Assad and some other statements, but none of that justifies calling her compromised.
