A federal appeals court in Washington DC has instructed Trump’s ally and host of the podcast “War Room“Steve Bannon’s attempt to delay his prison sentence while he appeals his conviction for contempt of Congress. Unless the former Trump adviser succeeds in getting the Supreme Court to intervene, he must report to prison on July 1 to begin his four-month sentence.
Bannon’s “crimes” consist of refusing to comply with congressional subpoenas related to the J6 protests and subsequently (*1*)despised for it.
Trump-nominated U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols earlier this month granted prosecutors’ request to send Bannon to prison after a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit upheld his conviction.
Bannon’s lawyers had asked the appeals court to let him go free while he continues to fight the conviction and, if necessary, goes all the way to the Supreme Court.
His case is similar to that of another former Trump adviser, Peter Navarro, who is serving time in a federal prison in Miami on similar contempt of court charges after his appeal failed.

No comment yet from former Obama-era Attorney General Eric Holder, who also Disregard for Congress and yet faced no consequences. Meanwhile, Attorney General Merrick Garland was just charged with contempt of court for refusing to release the Robert Hur tapes – and yet the Justice Department quickly announced that no charges would be filed.
In fact, a two-tier legal system.

FOR AN OFFENSE!!
This represents a gross distortion of the legal system. Stalin and Mao would be proud of their current American democratic comrades.

Republicans in Congress are well aware of the two-faced nature of the justice system. In what RedState’s Susie Moore describes as an “interesting move,” they introduced a measure earlier this week that seeks to “quash the subpoenas to Navarro and Bannon, as well as Mark Meadows and Dan Scavino, and withdraw the recommendations to charge them with contempt of Congress.” Whether this move will have any effect is currently unknown.

Meanwhile, several reports suggest that the Justice Department wants to humiliate Bannon even further by sending him not to a comfortable club-fed prison but to a federal prison where grave criminals could be at work. CNN was ecstatic about the news:
Instead of being held in a minimum-security prison camp where many non-violent offenders serve their sentences, Bannon – now a right-wing podcaster with a following of devoted Trump supporters – will be sent to the low-security federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut, next month, one of the sources told CNN…
The Connecticut prison where Bannon will live houses a huge number of white-collar criminals, but the male inmates could also include violent and sexual offenders.
If things continue as they are, both Navarro and Bannon will be behind bars during the Republican National Convention, which begins on July 15. They could be joined by another leading Republican—none other than presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump—if corrupt judge Juan Merchan gives him time to wait before being convicted on 34 counts of white-collar fraud in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s twisted, politicized prosecution of the former president.
Speaking of Bragg, the man who digs up years-old misdemeanors and turns them into phantom crimes: The Manhattan district attorney can’t be bothered to prosecute those who actually break the law.
It all depends on which side you are on:

Sentencing in the white collar fraud case is scheduled for July 11. Imagine all three of them – Bannon, Navarro and Trump – staring at concrete walls while Republicans make their case to the American public? “Banana republic” doesn’t begin to describe what we would experience – “Soviet-style tyranny” might be more precise.
And yet that is exactly what we are witnessing in this country, day after day, show trial after show trial. Only voters can stop this malign power in our politics, and God support us, they will in November. If they – we – do not, then we face a grim future indeed.
