Republican Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri appeared on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” and delivered a bombshell: Whistleblowers had told him that the Secret Service was “woefully unprepared” to protect candidates and that they were being educated through webinars on “Microsoft Teams” – and most police officers at the July rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Donald Trump narrowly escaped death by a sniper’s bullet. were not even secret service. They were DHS officials:
Hawley appeared on Jesse Watters Primetime on Tuesday night to debunk whistleblower claims that Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents were provided with only a single two-hour webinar via Microsoft Teams when they were deployed to work on protective measures.
The videos were pre-recorded. Whistleblowers reportedly stated that there were numerous technical glitches in the videos.
“Imagine 1,000 people logging into Microsoft Teams at the same time after being told at the last minute that everyone had to log in individually,” one whistleblower told Hawley.
When it started, the Secret Service instructor couldn’t figure out how to get the audio on the recorded videos to work. [which I’m told are the same videos as last year]. In total, they restarted the videos about six times… The content was not helpful.”

But the Senator from Missouri had a lot more bad news to share about the state of our Secret Service. The once highly praised force simply doesn’t seem to be up to the task.
“This is a nightmare. The only reason we know about this is because of whistleblowers,” Hawley said…
“The agent on the ground, the lead agent, was known within the Trump campaign to be inexperienced, ineffective and, frankly, incompetent at her job,” Hawley said earlier in an interview on “Jesse Watters Primetime.” “Whistleblowers have also told me that she did not enforce normal security protocols that day.”
“She didn’t check people’s IDs. She didn’t use Secret Service agents,” Hawley added. “Most of the agents that were there that day were not Secret Service agents. They were Homeland Security agents.”
On Tuesday, he sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security, which is constantly on vacation, demanding answers:

The Secret Service’s failures in this episode are deeply troubling, especially after we’ve seen the historical trauma inflicted on the nation by previous assassinations like those of JFK, RFK, and MLK Jr. We spend trillions on things like the Inflation Reduction Act, yet the Secret Service seems like a forgotten, bastard stepbrother.
I remember watching shows like The FBI, SWAT, and Dragnet as a kid. I idolized those crime fighters, and later in life I came to believe that the Secret Service was also an elite agency, despite failing to stop Reagan’s would-be assassin John Hinckley. But as the saying goes, progressives ruin everything, and they seem to have ruined the Secret Service – at least when it comes to Donald Trump.
