The maxim “You don’t hate the media enough” has never proven truer than in the two weeks since Donald Trump was re-elected to the White House. Because the left and its lapdog media are unwilling to take some time to self-reflect and consider why they were so badly beaten at the ballot box, they appear to be, as another maxim goes, remaining stupid.
Case in point: the media reaction to the verdict in the Laken Riley murder case.
For those who haven’t been following the case closely, Laken Riley, a nursing student living in Athens, Georgia, was brutally murdered by illegal immigrant Jose Ibarra in February of this year allegedly Having ties to the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. Ibarra was found guilty on Wednesday and sentenced to life in prison by Judge Patrick Haggard.

Riley’s gruesome death at the hands of an illegal immigrant drew national attention as the U.S. finds itself in a full-blown refugee crisis, with some 12 million people pouring across the border under the watch of the Biden-Harris administration.
Ibarra landed in Athens courtesy of a taxpayer-funded flight provided by the administrationwho traveled from Kennedy Airport in Queens to Atlanta, Georgia, in September 2023, New York City sources said.
The flight – which took place less than six months before he chased Riley while he was jogging – was paid for with federal funds under a Biden administration program that provided one-way flights for migrants anywhere in the world.
As if on cue, the media tried to distract from the fact that this very preventable crime happened under the watch of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. ABC News increased the level of partisan hacking by actually insinuating that Donald Trump, out of office as of early 2021, was somehow responsible for Jose Ibarra being in the country and murdering Laken Riley:

Here’s the conclusion from ABC News’ Ike Ejiochi:
It’s significant to note that for all the hate we’re hearing from Republicans and President-elect Trump about the Biden administration’s policies on illegal immigration, we must also note that President Trump has essentially forced Republicans into a to pass a bipartisan border security bill that was approved by both sides. The aisle in question would have essentially dealt with border security and immigration issues.
That’s a tedious sentence, but the message is clear: Donald Trump, who was not president at the time and whose strict border policies were overturned by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, is responsible for Laken Riley’s murder.
This is irresponsible “journalism” at its finest. Kamala’s already lost, Ike, there’s no reason for her to take cover anymore. She and Joe Biden rolled out the red carpet for violent criminals like Jose Ibarra, and they alone are responsible for the chain of events that led to a youthful woman’s life being snuffed out. There is no tragedy that the media will not exploit to score political points for the Democrats. Jose Ibarra should never have been here and Laken Riley should still be here, preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving with her loving family.
