In a hushed but devastatingly effective protest against the conviction of former President Donald Trump, on the night of May 30-31, 2024, one or more people altered an American flag placed outside the public library in Monrovia, California, on Memorial Day by turn the flags upside down.
KTLA’s Jennifer McGraw said it was clear that flipping each of the flags would require cutting zip ties.
“It was not an easy task,” McGraw said.
It is engaging to note that even if the perpetrator(s) are identified, no charges can be brought against them as they have not committed any crime. The flags were neither damaged nor desecrated. Law on such matters states:
The flag of the United States of America shall not be treated with disrespect; the flag shall not be lowered in the presence of any person or thing. Regimental flags, state flags, and flags of organizations or institutions shall be lowered as a mark of honor.
(a) The flag shall never be displayed with the flag down except as a sign of extreme emergency in cases of extreme danger to life or property.
It is tough to argue that the current situation is not one of great distress, as our constitutional republic and its system of checks and balances between the three branches of government are threatened not from without but from within. The Biden administration has clearly used the judiciary as a weapon against its political opponents, whose ineffectual, senility-driven incompetence will make it incapable of defeating it in a properly conducted election. Partisan scribblers can blather all they want about how Biden is clever as a whistle, the economy is booming, and all is well at the border and abroad. No one is fooled except fools like the average MSNBC or The View host who lives in mortal fear of being exposed as a modern-day emperor in nonexistent clothes.
Yes, this is a good time to fly our flag upside down. As our sister Toldjah noted:
I suspect many Americans will follow suit by hanging upside-down flags in their front yards to show their solidarity with the stance of prominent Republicans. Pay such as Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, with DeSantis perhaps summing up the issue better than anyone else:
Today’s verdict represents the culmination of a trial that was subject to the political will of the actors involved: a left-wing prosecutor, a partisan judge, and a jury reflecting one of America’s most liberal enclaves – all with the goal of “getting” Donald Trump.
[…]In America, the rule of law should be applied impartially and without bias and should not be sacrificed to the political agenda of some sham court.
This is undoubtedly election interference at its worst and most effective, and if this trend continues, it does not bode well for the future of America.
