As despair grows within the Democratic Party and its puppet media over the utter hopelessness of the controversial Joe Biden beating Donald Trump in November’s presidential election, their attempts to portray Trump as an existential threat to the United States, if not the planet, are becoming increasingly ridiculous.
That was the case on this week’s CBS Sunday Morning, when the network sent 84-year-old Ted Koppel to the Civil War battlefield of Gettysburg to urge critics to “consider the consequences of another Trump defeat” rather than just fearing his victory.
In other words: coupling has frightened and terrified himself He compared the celebrations after the surrender of Fort Sumter to Trump’s rallies and said that if Trump were to lose, there would be a “second civil war.”

Koppel opened the festivities with Chris Gwinn, director of Gettysburg’s Office of Education and Interpretation, which was somewhat funny as Koppel attempted to position the man as a contemporary political analyst.
I don’t think there has ever been a mini-riot as well documented as the one on January 6th, and yet we still argue about what happened. Do you see some of the same similarities I see in today’s events?
“To a certain extent,” Gwinn replied, to which Koppel replied, “I mean, you don’t have to if it’s too hot a potato.”
Pulitzer-worthy journalism, right? Gwinn replied:
It’s a little scorching. It’s a little scorching for the park service. What I remember about the insurrection on January 6th is that it was the first time I saw the Confederate battle flags in the halls of Congress. They accomplished something that Robert E. Lee and his Army of Northern Virginia didn’t even come close to. They are physically standing in the halls of Congress with the same battle flag that the Virginia units carried on that battlefield. And that’s something I never thought I would see.
Please.
While the left couldn’t care less about insulting the intelligence of rationally wise people, they do care very much about exploiting (and indoctrinating) ill-informed Democratic voters. In this case, comparing the ill-conceived Capitol insurrection on January 6 to the Civil War, in which some 620,000 Americans died, is a farce.
On the other hand, in the eyes of the Democrats, given that Biden and the Democrats in Congress Zero to continue From a positive perspective, all they can do is scare people about the unspeakable things Trump will do if he returns to the White House – and if he doesn’t.
“Does it bother you?” Koppel asked Gwinn. “Deeply. Deeply,” Gwinn replied. “Why?” Koppel asked Gwinn to clarify, apparently daring the valet attendant to come up with more theatrical nonsense.
Needless to say, Gwinn was all in.
We fought a four-year war that cost 700,000 people [620,000] Life. And to see that symbol, that flag, used in that way and to see it in that building was something that I think if you could go and resurrect some of those Union soldiers, those U.S. soldiers that are buried in that cemetery, they would be horrified at the sight.
Spoiler, Mr. Quinn: If Trump wins in November, the Confederate flag will do not fly in the US Capitol – or elsewhere in DC
Koppel then poured it on.
And yet when the Civil War began with the surrender of Fort Sumter in 1861, much of the country was in a state of wild celebration, with no idea what price would be paid. Wars rarely begin in a climate of foresight. … So could chest-beating at a political rally really provide insight into what might happen if Trump were to suffer another defeat?
The segment also featured a clip in which several Trump supporters expressed their views. Among them:
MAN #1: Condition one, be ready.
KOPPEL: And that is what –
MAN #1: I don’t know. I think there’s going to be real unrest in this country. I think everyone’s going to step in now. In the first situation, you have to be ready. Just be ready. That’s why, sir.
COUPLING: Condition one refers to a firearm with the safety engaged –
ALL: We love Trump. We love Trump
KOPPEL: —live cartridge in the barrel and the hammer cocked.
MAN #1: Condition one.
[…]
KOPPEL: President Trump’s critics and their legion fear what his election victory could mean for the country. And he would be well advised to consider the consequences of another Trump defeat.
MAN #2: We’re not going to continue at this rate for another four years. Our side will fight back.
KOPPEL: Tell me what that means.
MAN #2: It means our freedom will no longer be stolen.
KOPPEL: What if it happens again?
MAN #3: Be ready. Just be ready for war.
KOPPEL: Really?
MAN #3: I think some of us are going to freak out a little bit about this.
No doubt these are carefully edited clips. And no doubt the left-wing media’s herculean efforts to save Biden from his disastrous self will only get sillier as Tuesday, November 5, 2024, approaches.
Related media bias:
CNN reporter apparently advertises Biden’s anti-Trump article and even links to Joe’s campaign shop
Maddow Madness: MSNBC host hilariously claims Republicans are ‘very eager to buy dictator Trump’
Can the media ever regain its credibility?
Editor’s note: The headline of this article was revised after publication to reflect the fact that Koppel warned of possible civil war if Trump were to lose (not to be confused with the end of the world if he won). We apologize.
