The extent to which the Biden camp has lost press attention would have been unthinkable just a month ago. But as the situation surrounding the president’s mental and physical health worsened, the gloves came off, and Republicans are ready to do so.
CNN has long been one of the friendliest networks to the Biden administration, and it was pretty obvious that the two had colluded to dictate the terms of the first debate. One of the reasons things went so poorly for Biden is that the rules designed to prevent Donald Trump from dominating rhetorically ended up isolating the president and exposing his condition without interruptions or distractions.
Jake Tapper was one of the moderators of that debate, but since taking off the mask, he has suddenly discovered a penchant for journalism. Despite his relatively subtle coverage of the president in the past, even he couldn’t contain his laughter at the Biden campaign’s latest stupidity.

REPORTER: In response to those comments from George Clooney, Jake, a campaign staffer who attended the Los Angeles fundraiser, told me that George Clooney left three hours before the president. So, Jake, now it’s clear that the gloves are off.
TAPPER: But what does it mean that George Clooney was gone for three hours, what’s the point of that?
REPORTER: My point is that Biden’s stamina is greater than Clooney’s and that Clooney didn’t watch the entire event. That’s in response to Clooney’s comment.
TAPPER: Okay (laughs)
I love that the Biden campaign has been reduced to citing the hours the president stays up as absolute proof of his mental capacity. They are like middle schoolers arguing over who can throw a ball the farthest. Of course, the phrasing is ridiculous. Someone can be senile and occasionally stay up tardy, and while Biden may have been, he was not really there. That was the same fundraiser where the president froze on stage and had to be led away by Barack Obama, after which the White House accused the conservative media of spreading “cheap fake videos.”

Still, it is hilarious to see that Tapper can no longer hide his disdain for the nonsense the Biden campaign is feeding him. No one believes that Clooney, who is himself in his 60s, has less “stamina” than the president, but There was a time when the press. Seeing them do an about-face and start laughing at the gaslighting coming from Biden and his advisers is still a pinch-yourself moment for conservatives. Is this some kind of alternate timeline we’ve all been thrust into?
How long will this newfound hostility last? I don’t know. The cynic in me says they’ll all barricade themselves once there’s no question that Biden is the candidate on the ballot in November. Still, there’s something about this feels different. It’s as if the press has decided it doesn’t care who wins because it has its reputation to save. There is a resentment that the White House has put them in this position, and that resentment is playing out in real time.
