As RedState has previously documented, the mainstream media has naturally gone into overdrive following the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, as evidenced by their efforts to find excuses for Democrats’ inflammatory rhetoric against Trump, including a statement made by President Joe Biden just days before the attack.
Biden, like reported of POLITICO, was on the phone with panicked donors last Monday to reassure them that he was capable of beating the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee when he made the statement.
“I am absolutely sure that I am the best person to [beat Donald Trump]. So, we’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to target Trump,” Biden said in the phone call.

As RedState readers know, Democrats and the media rushed to falsely accuse former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin following the assassination attempt on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) in 2011. The Anchorage Daily News, for example,, pointed “to Sarah Palin’s ‘target list,’ that now infamous graphic with a map full of crosshairs,” including one of Giffords’ congressional district in Arizona.
Surprisingly, some media have even he apologized for the word “crosshairs” that was being used in their programs at the time, saying, “We are trying to get away from using that kind of language.” As we learned pretty quickly, briskHowever, the shooter’s motives had nothing to do with Palin or the card.
Fast forward to the present, and now Biden is in the warm seat for the heated, inflammatory rhetoric he actually has used directly against the former president.
Excerpts from NBC News anchor Lester Holt’s interview with Biden have surfaced, in which Biden is asked whether he has considered that his own rhetoric may have contributed to the problem of violence against elected officials and candidates. In response, Biden claimed that he had been above the fight the whole time and claimed he had done nothing of the sort:
When asked if he had “reflected” since the assassination attempt and thought about any rhetoric that might inadvertently incite someone to violence, Biden said the threat from his opponent was too great to ignore.
“How do you talk about the threat to democracy that is real when the president says things the way he says them? Do you just say nothing because it might incite someone?” Biden asked rhetorically.
“I did not engage in that rhetoric,” Biden continued. “My opponent engaged in that rhetoric.”
Biden then repeated the lie about Trump’s “bloodbath” remarks, but ignored the context, which of course would have invalidated his point.

But that is exactly what he did, and only recently, as Holt Biden pointed out. His response essentially should say that at least I didn’t employ a “crosshair”:
Biden said using the word was a “mistake” but dismissed the larger criticism, telling Holt it was merely a figure of speech and adding that Trump was the one who brought violent rhetoric into the mainstream.
“I didn’t say crosshairs. I said bullseye. I meant focus on him. Focus on what he’s doing, focus on his policies, focus on the number of lies he told in the debate.”
Regard:
NBC: You called President Trump an “existential threat” and said it was time to “target” him.

I’m sorry, but if you’re trying to distinguish between the words “bullseye” and “crosshairs,” you’re grasping at straws, making a distinction without a difference, and have completely lost the point of the discussion.
And that is exactly what Biden and the Democrats have done on the issue of inflammatory rhetoric: “Lost the debate,” not only because of what happened to Trump, but also because of other examples of Republicans being targeted by deranged lunatics:

And let us all remember the calls for aggressive action against Republicans, including Trump, and where they came from:

I do not have anything to say in addition.
