Of all the questions Vice President Kamala Harris could have been asked during her CNN interview, the one I was most curious to hear – and assumed would not be asked – was her staunch defense of President Joe Biden after his disastrous performance at the June debate.
Although it undeniably confirmed what Biden’s critics have been saying for years about his cognitive health, and even sparked rumors that some Democrats had discussed that same night that he might consider dropping out of the race, Harris, in a heated exchange with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, reduced the debate to a single bad night in three and a half years.
“The Joe Biden I’ve worked with every day is someone who, as I said, has performed in a way that has enabled him to bring people into the Oval Office, Republicans and Democrats, to compromise in a way that is extraordinary in this day and age,” she said. told Cooper back then.

Despite all the calls from Democrats in July for Biden to drop out of the race, including the infamous moment when former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to say she supported Biden staying in the race, Harris never publicly wavered in her support for Biden during the campaign, often Minimization his performance in the debate was just one bad evening, which is best overlooked because “Orange Man Bad.”

In my view, that was as disqualifying an answer as it gets. I mean, the only damn reason it’s where it is now is because an overwhelming majority of Democratic leaders/movers and decision makers on Capitol Hill (not to mention substantial donors, Hollywood elitists, and the Obamas) were appalled by what Biden’s debate performance revealed to America about his weakness, his lack of coherence, and his mental acuity.
Of course, Kamala Harris isn’t going to come out and say that Joe Biden isn’t fit for another four years in office – especially considering that she benefited from his announcement and support. But to sit there and act like Biden has been a model of strength, leadership and inner strength from day one? Seriously – does anyone other than Jill Biden even believe that anymore?
There are many reasons why Kamala Harris doesn’t deserve to be president, but perhaps the most significant is her unwillingness to be sincere with the American people about Joe Biden’s health. She could have done it in a way that was respectful to her boss, but still got her point across and didn’t make her look like a complete shill and stooge.
But she didn’t. And I suspect that was because doing so would have exposed her own complicity in the deception and the problematic cover-up.
Kamala Harris will always put personal ambitions and politics above her country. If the American people learned nothing else about her from the CNN interview, let’s hope they learned at least this.
