Another January 6th is upon us, and while the real significance of this day will be the confirmation of Donald Trump’s second term, the press is still desperately trying to make the events of four years ago a dominant narrative. The problem? Nobody cares.
Of course, the same press that treated January 6th with the same “reverence” as Pearl Harbor and September 11th is not elated about this. That brings me to CNN, which opened the day with a panel discussion about the American public’s disinterest in the issue.

Alyssa Farah Griffin went on to say she placed the blame on Republican politicians for not sufficiently highlighting January 6 and allowing voters to build up “nostalgia” for Trump’s time in office. Then SE Cupp stepped in and did what Democrats always do when they don’t want to admit that their position is unpopular: blame the embassies.
CUPP: Yes, Joe Biden made a lot of mistakes, messaging was one of them. Telling people that the economy is great, that the refugee crisis isn’t real, and that their cities are protected. These were mistakes and he let his ego get in the way.
However, there is one thing he didn’t do. He never encouraged his followers to march on the Capitol, to break the system, to break democracy, to break the law, just so he could stay in power. His legacy won’t be as large or as large as I imagined when he leaves office, but that’s one thing he won’t have.
I have good news for Cupp. Donald Trump didn’t do these things either. Although he encouraged his supporters to peacefully protest outside the Capitol, he did not ask them to “break the system” or “break democracy” and break the law in the process. Years of investigations, including by the Democratic-led January 6th Committee, found not a shred of evidence that the recent president had planned an insurrection.
Next up was Jim Acosta, who did exactly what you would expect.

ACOSTA: Taking back power and reigniting fears. In just hours, Congress will convene to certify President-elect Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory, four years to the day after a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol, smashing windows and doors, brutally attacking police officers and shocking the nation has.
Nothing is more emblematic of the bubble the press finds itself in than the idea that Americans are “afraid” of Trump’s return to office. If that were true, he would not have been elected for a second term. The truth is that most people only care about the economy and the safety of their communities. People like Acosta may have the luxury of continuing the drama over something that happened four years ago, but the rest of the country has moved on, and rightly so.
However, the Democrats do not want to accept that.

No, there wouldn’t have been another “bloodbath” if Harris had won, because there was no bloodbath at all. The only person whose death has ever been definitively and directly linked to January 6th was Ashli Babbitt, and she was a Trump supporter who was shot and killed by police.

It is also completely wrong to say that Democrats respect elections. Many of them voted against the certification of the 2016 and 2004 elections, and that is only the case this century. The Democratic Party’s history of voter denial goes back much further.
But again, the bigger point is that no one cares. Americans want cheaper food and the ability to buy a home. They do not prioritize the virtue signaling of the left in Washington over their own well-being. This shouldn’t shock anyone, although it seems overwhelming to the mainstream press and Democratic politicians.
