Former President Donald Trump has done perhaps better than any other Republican in newfangled history at completely alienating his critics on the left, in the media, and on the right in the NeverTrump movement. Jennifer Rubin, Rick Wilson, Jim Acosta, and the hosts of Morning Joe come to mind as people who would (and still do) freak out over the subject of Donald Trump.
Lincoln Project co-founder George Conway is another member of the NeverTrump right who has a vested interest in keeping Trump hatred alive, even at the expense of whatever shred of credibility he may have left.

Still, it will come as no surprise to RedState readers that despite the likely 2024 Republican presidential nominee’s guilty verdict, Conway is still an unhappy guy during his politically motivated trial in Manhattan.
For proof, watch the exchange between Conway and conservative CNN political commentator Scott Jennings below.
The topic of discussion, of course, was Trump’s trial and the announcement of the guilty verdict. Jennings said this would likely backfire on Democrats, after noting that “there is no underlying crime.”
Conway, who audibly sighed and shook his head as Jennings spoke, then went on to accuse Jennings of “lying” about the facts of the case. From there, things went downhill, not for Jennings, but for a very agitated Conway, who was turned into a miserable wreck by Jennings after the Kentucky Republican asked a key question (bold added):
CONWAY: I have to say – look – Scott is lying, and that’s the problem with the Republican Party. They’re constantly addicted to lies.
JENNINGS: Wait a minute. What are my lies?
CONWAY: Your lie – you’re lying. You’re lying, Scott. You’re lying about the law. You’re lying about what the jury was supposed to find. They didn’t have to find that there was an underlying crime. They had to find an intent to cover up an underlying crime. And the underlying crime was pretty obvious.
JENNINGS: What was the crime?
CONWAY: You ran for public office, Scott. You – you ran for public office, Scott. You know, you can’t take money from somebody and give it back to them – you know, when it’s an election campaign.
JENNINGS: I have never run for public office.
CONWAY: OK, fine. Well, you – you’re close enough. You’re in politics to know that. OK? So that’s the problem with the Republican Party, it’s full of lies. I don’t know why this network is paying Scott to spread these lies.
[…]
JENNINGS: Here’s my question. If this is an obvious crime, why did the Justice Department and the Federal Election Commission not pursue it?
[…]
CONWAY: They should have prosecuted it. It should have been prosecuted on January 21st – January 21st, 2021.
Caught! Watch:
Kudos to George Conway for taking CNN to task this morning, asking why the network was paying (R)Scott Jennings to lie. Anchor Kasie Hunt had to step in and tell Conway not to pursue it, Scott is our colleague.

Similarly, George Conway lecturing someone about alleged “lies” is like Hillary Clinton lecturing someone about backing up their emails. It just doesn’t work.
In any case, I take my hat off to Jennings, who stayed cold under pressure and later laughed heartily about it on the Twitter/X machine:
