While the focus remains on the presidential race, it’s difficult to overstate how significant it is to the country that Republicans win back the Senate. Almost every harmful far-left policy that Democrats want to implement must pass through the upper house.
The path to victory is relatively simple for Republicans. They have to win West Virginia, which is certain with Jim Justice as the candidate. Then they have to secure another seat, with Montana and Ohio the most likely candidates. Finally, there can be no surprises in Texas and Florida, as they appear to be the only Republican seats where there is a possibility of an upset.
At the moment things seem to be going as planned. Tim Sheehy is ahead of incumbent Democrat Jon Tester in Montana, and the former may have thrown things away during Monday night’s debate.

SHEEHY: Well, Sen. Tester knows all about backroom meetings. He’s been taking them for 20 years. He is the main recipient of lobbyist money.
(crosstalk)
TESTER: That’s completely wrong. I am the most crystal clear senator in the U.S. Senate.
(crosstalk)
SHEEHY: The largest recipient of lobbying money in the country, number one of any country. So if you want to talk about backroom meetings, while I was fighting in Afghanistan, he was eating lobbyist steak in DC
There will be no other moment in the debate that will receive more views than this one. Sheehy perfectly contrasted his military service with Tester’s two-faced personality. Montana’s current senator has long claimed to be a “moderate” separate from the broader Democratic Party. But behind his flannel shirts and folksy accent, Tester was a stamp of approval for the Biden administration enjoying the D.C. high life.
Sheehy didn’t just carry out a general attack either. Accordingly Campaign DisclosureBy mid-2023, Tester had spent over a million dollars Eating at steakhouses in the nation’s capital.
In case you’re wondering what Tim Sheehy means. Campaign finance records show this #MTSen Jon Tester (D) has spent more than $1.2 million eating at upscale steakhouses in Washington, DC. Tester spent more than $31,000 at Morton’s Steakhouse alone!https://t.co/lrk0Tlq7AR https://t.co/XendyrXMIs

Does that sound like an “everyman” from Montana to you, or someone who enjoys the lavish lifestyle of a senator a little too much? Tester is a fraudster of the highest order. The fact that Montanans finally seem to be coming to terms with this is a welcome change.
In another conversation, Sheehy hit out at Tester about the border crisis.
REGARD: @SheehyforMT criticizes Jon Tester for supporting the Biden-Harris open border. pic.twitter.com/CXJoWjzUjG
— Mike Berg (@MikeKBerg) October 1, 2024
SHEEHY: Well, Democrats in the Senate and the White House created this border crisis. Four years ago we had a secure border. Donald Trump handed the Biden-Harris administration a sealed border, and Kamala Harris, the border czar, left the border wide open for three years with the support of her friends on the Hill like Sens. Tester and Chuck Schumer. She refused to even go there. Democrats on the Hill refused to hold the government accountable for the largest mass migration in this country’s history. We’ve never seen so many people come in in such a tiny time.
The only rebuttal that Democrats can find to this entirely valid accusation is that Republicans have not approved a border bill that would have done essentially nothing to solve the problem while creating long-term incentives for more illegal immigration. But as Sheehy says, it was three years before This bill was defeated when the border remained wide open. Has Tester spoken forcefully about the crisis and called for Biden and Harris to utilize executive power to reinstate effective Trump-era policies? No, he didn’t.
Sheehy continued to criticize Tester for being more concerned about Trump’s impeachment than opposing his own party’s radical agenda.
REGARD: @SheehyforMT bangs @JonTester for voting to impeach Trump twice, for saying people should punch Trump in the face, and for supporting the radical Biden-Harris agenda. #VoteHimOut #MTSen pic.twitter.com/KEI58TjtAb

SHEEHY: Sen. Tester has been in office for many years. I thank him for his service, but he also voted twice to impeach Donald Trump. He said on CNN that we should punch him in the face. He voted with Biden and Harris every time it mattered, voted against all Supreme Court justice nominees who came from the Trump administration, and pushed to end the filibuster and approve the Supreme Court expand
That’s Tester in a nutshell. He is a typical Beltway-loving Democrat who has been a reliable partisan at every opportunity. He’s not a Montana-first moderate who fought back against the radicals in his midst. Sheehy was prepared and dressed him up, potentially sealing the election for him.
