More is being revealed about Ryan Wesley Routh, the man who allegedly planned to assassinate former President Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday.
As RedState’s Nick Arama reported, this wasn’t Routh’s first run-in with the law. He had prior convictions in North Carolina, including “possession of weapons of mass destruction, carrying a concealed weapon, hit and run, possession of stolen goods and resisting police, among other charges.”
Routh’s neighbor in North Carolina described He called him “a little nutcase” and recalled that “a lot of people were afraid” of the would-be assassin. Routh’s son, however, painted a different picture of his father, Saying:
“He’s not a violent person,” Oran Routh also said. “He’s a hard-working person and a great father. He’s a great guy, a nice guy and has worked his whole damn life.”
The younger Routh also provided some vital insight into his father’s possible motive for wanting to kill the former president.
The son of the alleged shooter who targeted former President Donald Trump at his Florida golf course on Sunday said his father hates Trump, as “any reasonable person does,” but claimed he is not a violent person, a report said.
Oran Routh told the Daily Mail that his father, Ryan Routh, who was arrested in connection with the alleged assassination, is not a fan of the Republican candidate.
“I don’t like Trump either,” he added.
But the younger Routh, 35, insisted his father was not violent and said he was shocked to hear the allegations.
Ryan Wesley Routh paints a picture of a disturbed man overcome by hatred, even as he preaches to the world that people should be “kind” and “caring.”

Newsweek interviewed Routh in 2022, when he was apparently in Ukraine to rally support for the country at the start of the war against Russia. To him, Ukraine is the only good thing in the world and Russia is evil. In the video, he looks disheveled, his hair is dyed blue and yellow to reflect the Ukrainian flag, and he probably has a black eye. His demeanor is that of a person whose political leanings have begun to eat away at him.
Let us hear his own words:
[…] this is definitely a battle of evil against good. I mean, we are fighting against a situation where Ukraine and the rest of the world are caring, kind, generous, selfless and look after each other.
He continues: “The most important thing in the world is to show people that we are kind and caring and that we care about each other.” He then calls on the world to “move forward as a collective, whole unit.”
Later in the interview, Routh admits that he struggles every day with the question of whether humanity is good or evil. He then laments the fact that the people of the United States did not respond “generously” and “selflessly” to his call for support for Ukraine. American taxpayers probably have a very different view on this issue.
What went wrong with Ryan Wesley Routh is anyone’s guess, but his own words depict a maniac who embraced the globalist mindset and saw himself as its foot soldier. It’s a classic case of a morally deranged leftist who calls himself a good person and is anything but. We’ve seen this before, from the Baseball Fields of AlexandriaVirginia, to the fairgrounds in Butler, Pennsylvania.
