Governor Patrick Morrisey’s Anti-Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Executive Order prompted West Virginia State University to review its programs. WVSU in the institute is one of the historically black universities and universities of the state.

The university does not have a committed DEI office, from which Morrisey in the state government or in companies that receive state funds such as universities do not exist.

“Like all universities of university education in West Virginia, we assess our institution
Make sure that we meet the executive regulations published by governor Morrisey
And the latest requirements of the federal government, ”said WVSU President Erece S. Cage.

President Donald Trump has executive regulations on DEI programs that aim to reduce the programs in all federal authorities with diversity-focused programs, including those that can benefit HBCUs.

“West Virginia State University has always been an institution that is proud to be a living laboratory for human relationships that offers students of all of high quality training
Backgrounds, ”added Cage.

WVSU was founded in 1891 and is one of the original HBCUs that were founded after the civil war.

The Bluefield State University, the other HBCU of the state, did not react after the deadline about how the campus reacted to Morrisey’s anti-dei directive.

The West Virginia University announced last week that in response to Morrisey’s command, you would open its office in Dei and open a fresh unit -the WVU department for campus engagement and compliance -with a “newly defined mission”. The unit will concentrate on the fact that, according to the WVU management, the university complies with the guidance of the federal and state guidelines, including compliance with titles IX and the law on Americans with disabilities.

The acronym DEI represents “diversity, equity and inclusion guidelines”, which aims to promote the equality of the government’s attitude and storage. Morrisey, a Republican, believes that the guidelines due to breed, age, ethnicity and much more preferences can “benefit from a group”.
Marshall University and West Liberty University are checking their diversity guidelines, and both universities have removed DEI-related content from their websites.
