Former President Donald Trump was many things as commander in chief, but when it came to foreign policy, he was not the guy to mess with. According to Republican Congressman Wesley Hunt of Texas, the Taliban learned this during a personal meeting with the former president.
Hunt appeared on The Sage Steele Show alongside Byron Donalds, where he told a story about the time Trump met with Taliban leaders while planning the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.
During the meeting, Trump told Taliban leaders that he wanted to leave Afghanistan, but wanted to do so in a “conditional withdrawal.”
What were the conditions?
Only one, according to Hunt.
Hunt said they had a translator in the room and Trump made his condition very clear to the translator.
“If you harm a single American, I will kill you,” Trump said.
According to Hunt, the translator looked at Trump with wide eyes and leaned back in his seat; however, Trump insisted that the translator repeat his warning to the Taliban leaders verbatim, which he then did.
According to Hunt, Trump reached into his pocket, pulled out a satellite image of the Taliban leader’s house and handed it to him before simply getting up and walking out of the room.
Congressman Wesley Hunt reveals stunning Trump story
That’s great.
At a tense meeting with Taliban leaders, Trump declared: “I want to leave Afghanistan, but the withdrawal will be conditional,” but then issued a stark warning.

The message was low but very, very clear: Trump was not joking.
One really wonders how things would have turned out differently in Afghanistan had Trump still been in power, but unfortunately that is not how it turned out. President Joe Biden oversaw the withdrawal from Afghanistan, and it remains to this day one of his biggest failures among a growing list of failures.
As you may recall, Biden definitely withdrew troops in 2021, but that withdrawal was so terribly well thought out that it left the Taliban with untold amounts of military equipment, which they used for other purposes. Even more egregious, however, it left hundreds of Americans and allies at the mercy of the Taliban, who almost immediately overran the country. Thirteen soldiers died.
Biden has embarrassed America with this withdrawal, and the blood spilled is on his hands and the hands of his administration.
Again, one can’t aid but wonder if this would have played out differently had Trump been in power. There probably wouldn’t have been nearly as brave a Taliban as there were under Biden, but the threat of being hit by a missile was apparently no longer an issue for them when Biden took office. The real threat was Trump, and Trump had already shown how threatening he could be when he attacked Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani with a drone and then ate ice cream.
And this little story that Hunt tells underscores this.
The contrast between Biden and Trump is so great that it is like night and day.
