Morrisey approved Senate Bill 837Sponsored by Sen. Patricia Rucker, R-Jefferson, who officially eliminates the state office for equal opportunities by eliminating his mandate in the state code. The office was commissioned to comply with the federal government’s rights of disability and the investigation of discrimination and harassment claims by public employees.
During the review of the invoices, the members of the delegate House of Delegates learned that the OEO be already gone required without legislature. The office has no employee or a website.
Legislator decided on the storage The position of the office in the staff department, although the position is currently free. Rucker said that the law was an attempt to rationalize the government of the state government because the OEO’s work has already been carried out by the staff department.
Morrisey also signed another one measure Sponsored by Rucker, which ends the “employee proposal for the employee” by terminating five code sections, including a program that provides state employees cash or honorary service, whose assumed proposals lead to significant savings or improvements in state business.
“We heard that this does not really help the state. We were very hopeful when it was said goodbye to us years ago that the employees could give us ideas March 20th in the Senate. “Unfortunately, it was years since there was a single proposal.”
Rucker said they encouraged state authorities to still accept proposals from employees to save costs.
New law rolls back
The governor signed Senate Bill 427 That will Roll back requirements for the work permit For 14- and 15-year-olds in West Virginia. The bill is sponsored by Senator Ruppie Phillips, R-Logan.
