In this episode of “Try to Control Your Shock and Amazement…”
Yes, on tonight’s episode of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” our favorite cartoon, co-host Joe Scarborough and his equally amusing co-host and wife Mika Brzezinski refused to cover President Joe Biden’s sweeping pardon of his son Hunter Biden of the two top stories in the series.
The active duo and their guests opted to jam first instead about President-elect Donald Trump’s nominations Kash Patel as the modern FBI director and Pete Hegseth as defense minister.
Then, 52 minutes into the show, Scarborough ultimately “reported” on the pardon and made no comment while the panel discussed the lame-duck president’s highly controversial decision.
Yet MSNBC — and “Morning Joe” in particular (along with frenzied Joy Reid’s “The ReidOut”) — continue to seem unable to understand why their pathetic ratings continue to spiral down the toilet.
Mika opened the celebrations so:
Republican Sen. Mike Rounds of South Dakota is expressing support for current FBI Director Christopher Wray after Donald Trump announced over the weekend that he would nominate loyalist Kash Patel for the position, which is not normally even open for nomination should. We’ll get the latest on this controversial presidential-elect pick.
Also ahead, We’ll look at newly emerged allegations against Trump’s pick for Defense Secretary, Pete Hegsethas whistleblower reports have emerged detailing years of troubling behavior.
And we come to President Biden’s pardon of his son Hunterwho is scheduled to be sentenced later this month for tax evasion and weapons possession.
Obvious bias? Naturally. Even I would have thought these clowns would start the pardon story, if only to loudly defend it.
Scarborough added:
We have a lot of great guests coming up to talk aboutHe told two huge stories this morning. One of course, Kash Patel. Second, the latest news about Pete Hegseth–more information.
We also come to the pardon of Hunter Biden, later.
As the show dragged on, Mika later said, obsessed with Trump’s appointments:
Still further ahead Morning JoeNow let’s turn to President Biden’s controversial decision to grant his son Hunter a full and unconditional pardonand the rapid response from Capitol Hill. We’ll be back in 90 seconds.
So after the 90-second break, did they finally address the topic of the day? No chance. Here’s Joe:
Joyce, before we let you go, I want to ask you about your concern that Kash Patel may be the FBI director. Another possibility. Donald Trump would first have to fire Christopher Wray, as he said he wanted to do.
But then, He’s talking about installing someone who has promised to lock up judges and journalists and prosecute people in the Justice Department who disagreed with 2020 conspiracy theories about a stolen election.
What are the dangers? Install someone who promised us he would put journalists in jail if they didn’t agree with the “Stop the Steal” conspiracy theory?
Various descriptions come to mind: outrageous, obviously biased, comic theater and irresponsible among them.

While early sources, including MSNBC, did not report what Joe and Mika said about the pardon when they finally brought it up another Monday op ed on MSNBC.com predictably reported the huge story under the headline: “Hunter Biden’s Unfair Prosecution Is Over – Finally.”
The editorial began with the subheading: “Hunter Biden’s criminal proceedings were the direct result of a political campaign by Donald Trump and his supporters to attack Joe Biden,” followed absurdly in part by:
President Joe Biden’s “full and unconditional pardon,” which he issued Sunday evening for his son Hunter Biden, covers many topics: for crimes that Hunter “committed during the period from January 1, 2014 to December 1, or “, 2024”, including cases he committed in Delaware (for which he was sentenced on June 11) and in California (for which he was convicted on September 5 pleaded).
In the accompanying statement, the president made it clear that he believes Hunter Biden was “selectively and unfairly” prosecuted simply because he is his son. Joe Biden wrote, among other things: “I also believe that raw politics has infected this process and led to a miscarriage of justice.”
I, too, believe that the criminal cases against Hunter Biden were the direct result of a political campaign by Donald Trump and his fanatical supporters to attempt to attack Joe Biden.
[…]
The tortured history of the cases speaks volumes about why these cases were politically motivated and unprecedented in their prosecution.
Trump Deangement Syndrome is, of course, real, and there is no better example in the media of its delusional effect on sufferers’ brains than MSNBC.
And that swirling sound you hear? Yes, that’s MSNBC’s ratings circling the toilet bowl.
