Democrats are pushing to pardon Hunter Biden

Many people are unhappy with President Biden’s sweeping, blanket pardon of his failed son Hunter. As the clamor grows louder, we see that even some Democrats are starting to lean on the older, confused president and the larger parties pardoning his son.

president Joe Biden‘s decision to pardon his son Hunter Biden on Sunday frustrated a Democrat who had broken with his party in recent weeks.

The President and his 2020 nominee, the Vice President Kamala Harrisran on a platform that promised to put her country above her party, in contrast to the president-elect Donald Trump. But Gov. Jared Polis (D-CO) said Sunday that the president’s decision to go back on his word was a prime example of how he is putting his family above the country.

Governor Polis accepted X express his concerns:

Governor Polis’s X post states in full:

While as a father I certainly understand President @JoeBiden’s natural desire to support his son by pardoning him, I am disappointed that he has put his family before the country. This is a bad precedent that could be abused by future presidents and will sadly tarnish his reputation. If you become president, your role is to be the father of the nation. Hunter brought the legal troubles he faced upon himself, and one can sympathize with his struggles while also acknowledging that no one is above the law, not a president and not a president’s son.

There is a problem with this statement: Governor Polis uses the term “pater familias” to describe the role of the president. “Pater familias” essentially means “father of the family,” and that is a misnomer; We should note that the President is not a father of the nation. He is our elected official, chosen from among us to lead the executive branch of a government that is said to be of the people, by the people and for the people.

But in his other statements, Gov. Polis makes some good points, as does Rep. Greg Stanton (D-AZ).

That’s a fair point. If Joe Biden had truly committed himself to the rule of law and the principle of equal treatment before the law, he would have allowed the trial to proceed and Hunter would have been held accountable for crimes for which he either pleaded guilty or was convicted by a jury of his peers .

Instead, Biden issued an ethically problematic blanket pardon. And from his point of view, why shouldn’t he? Joe Biden has been rudely kicked out by his own party, so it’s unlikely he’ll listen to them as much as he listens to the Republicans.

It’s demanding to see where all this precipitation will end up. Predictions are complex to make, especially when it comes to the future. But Joe Biden doesn’t care. He’s on his way out; His legacy includes a disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, runaway inflation, rising energy costs, a corrupt son who received an unethical pardon and possibly a brother who will receive the same. Biden’s legacy is marked by economic crisis and corruption; That can’t be changed now, so it seems Joe might as well apply the presidency’s nearly unlimited pardon power to set the record straight and make sure his family gets off tidy.

I would like to add that most of their ill-gotten gains are intact.
