SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) – Babydog has one Murala waterfall, a bobblehead, a BeerChristmas decorations and a huge following in West Virginia, and now there’s a song about them produced by a band from West Virginia.

Shepherdstown-based garage band Eastern Regional Jam’s single “Babydog” was released in early October and references a number of Babydog’s most eminent moments since being adopted by Gov. Jim Justice in 2019.

According to a press release, singer Todd Cotgreave said, “After I heard Justice say that Babydog would grow into a 60-pound brown watermelon, the rest of the lyrics practically wrote themselves.”

The song refers to the Do it for the Babydog COVID Vaccine Sweepstakes from 2020, Bette Midler’s “Kiss her Hiney” moment that made headlines in 2022 Waterfall named after her in 2023 and the controversial mural of her installed at the State Capitol in 2024.

Babydog also made national headlines this year when she stole the show at the Republican National Convention as Justice campaigned for a U.S. Senate seat.
