Here’s a look at how many Democrats and Republicans voted early in West Virginia

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Millions across the political spectrum voted early ahead of Tuesday’s general election, including more than 300,000 people in West Virginia.

According to the West Virginia Department of State, the Mountain State set a record with 310,421 early votes cast, representing about 29% of registered voters in the state. This exceeded the 2020 record by more than 70,000 votes.

In West Virginia, a ruby ​​red state, the majority of early votes came from Republicans. They made up around 46% of the electorate. Democrats made up about 30%, no-party voters made up about 19% and Libertarians, Mountain and other voters made up just under 5%.

26,300 people requested absentee ballots and 21,660 were returned, the secretary of state’s office said.
