CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – According to the Department of State, nearly 250,000 people in West Virginia voted early, with nearly half of those people being registered Republicans.
The data shows that as of Oct. 31, Kanawha County cast the most early votes with 25,049 votes, bringing the total to 244,336 across the Mountain State. Other counties with high turnout include Berkeley, Monongalia, Wood and Cabell.
Counties with the lowest voter turnout include Gilmer, McDowell, Webster, Wirt and Doddridge counties, according to the data.

Only seven counties saw higher Democratic turnout. These counties include Monongalia, Marion, Logan, Braxton, Boone, McDowell and Gilmer.
